Can you inspect and test(microstructure and composition) of an SS-310 and SS-316L plate from our vendor in Mumbai, India? TCR can certainly conduct the tests to verify microstructure and composition. We however wish to point out that non-destructive test (at a vendor's site) will give you limited composition only and we will not be able to analyze Carbon contents and without this we will not be able to confirm "L" quality. Thus we propose that we send out inspector to your vendor's site and get 1"x 1" pieces cut from the plate and mark the plates with our stamp. These pieces will be analyzed fully for confirmation to required specification and also IGC / micro tested as per your requirements. Please let us know atleast one day in advance whenever inspection is to be carried out.

What tests can you conduct on a graphite material sample for chemical and physical testing? TCR will check the Apparent Density, Porosity, Volatile Matter and Ash Content. As part of the chemical analysis we can check Carbon (C), Iron (Fe), Calcium (Ca), Silicon (Si), Sulphur (S), Aluminum (Al), Nickel(Ni), Boron (B), Cadmium (Cd) and any other elements as requested. We will need to know the size & shape of your graphite material product to determine the number of pieces required to cover all possible tests. In general, 2 pieces of 25 x 25 x 25mm should be sufficient.

We routinely conduct welding procedure qualification tests as per ASME Sec IX specification You can send those coupons to us for testing purpose and we will carry out all tests as requested by you. The charges for sample preparation vary from size to size and machineability of various materials. Also if coupons are given as full coupon or cut strips for various tests also make a difference in our quotation.
We now give you an estimate of sample preparation charges for a 40mm Thk low alloy steel test coupon given to us as a sample piece.
- Charges for Machining of Tensile Test Specimen US $ 15 per specimen
- Charges for Machining of Bend Test Specimen (Side Bend) US $10 per specimen
- Charges for Machining of Charpy V Notch Impact Test Specimen (set of 3 Nos.) US $30 per set
- Charges for Machining of Macroetch /Microexamination Test Specimen US $ 10 per specimen
- Charges for 3rd Party inspection(like LRS) can be estimated at US $ 400 pervisit.
- Testing charges for Impact Test at-46°C per set will be US $ 24 per set of 3 specimens
- Testing charges for Impact Test at -196°C per set will be US $ 30 per set of 3 specimens
Total time for testing the above will vary between 4 - 15 days depending on time required for specimen preparation.
We can also conduct Portable Hardness Test, In-Situ Metallography, Ultrasonic Flaw Detection and Dye Penetrant test, Magnetic Particle Test, Liquid Penetrant and other NDT Tests. We have access to Fractography, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM)& EDAX analysis as well.
Following information is necessary while submitting the sample - - Whether tests are required under any agency like LRS / ABS / DNV / SGS / BV etc. Our charges do not include the ircharges
- What is parent material specification.
- Test Temp for Impact Test and also whether specimen are required for weld only or weld and Haz also.
Please note that test coupons should be sent by courier on our door delivery basis completely prepaid. We are accredited under the ISO 17025 guidelines in accordance with NABL. In the past we have worked for several petrochemical refineries.

Is your lab is approved by NPC for IGC - E and MOC testing (Chemical &Mechanical)? We are glad to inform you that the lab at TCR Engineering Services is very much approved by NPCIL and we have been providing our services to them for the past 30 years. We have a NPC inspector visiting our lab every week at least once and they normally witness all Physical & IGC Test. Chemical Analysis is normally not witnessed but whenever they need, it can be witnessed. NPC has not issued any particular letter of approval but you can check up with their QA Director about our credentials. Mark Manufacturing P Ltd., MTART echnologies and Hyderabad Industries are regularly testing their material for NPCIL at our lab.
Please take 2 NPC stamp at each end of test piece very near the end so that we don't have to take a stamp transfer here. We need approx 4 days to prepare and keep samples ready for NPC witness. Sometime if visit is not available it may take upto one week to complete the job.
